Alone No More: Cow-Carrying Kitten Finds Happiness with His New Best Buds

A kitten who took his cow toy everywhere he went, is so happy to have found the company of other cats.

Sarah Kelly

A tiny kitten was spotted alone at a construction site in North Carolina. Workers found him in some rafters when they heard his cries.

“The mom was seen taking his sibling away, but after being left alone all night with the hope that his mom would come back for him, the workers found him in the morning and contacted us,” Sarah Kelly, volunteer of Sparkle Cat Rescue, shared.

The kitten was cold and hungry by the time rescuers got to him.

Sarah Kelly

Sarah took him in to foster and placed him in an incubator to help him regulate his body temperature. Making sure that he didn’t feel alone, Sarah gave the kitten to two snuggle toys, a cow and a teddy, to keep him company.

The sweet kitten waddled right up to the cow and wrapped his arms around it. Eventually, he relaxed and fell asleep next to the cow.

Sarah Kelly

“We decided to name him Bo, short for Bovine. He loves his cute little cow, so it suits him perfectly,” Sarah wrote.

Without a mom, the little neonate needed a constant source of warmth until he was able to regulate his body temperature. Bo felt assured and at ease with his cow nearby.

Sarah placed a few more snuggle toys to make the place even cozier, but Bo was always partial to the cow and enjoyed cuddling away with it.

“Bo and his cow were utterly adorable, spending their days meowing and mooing in the incubator,” Sarah shared.

Over the next few days, Bo continued to make strides. His legs got stronger and he became more curious about the world outside the incubator.

That’s when Sarah started to introduce him to a playpen, but not without the supervision of Bo’s trusty cow friend.

Sarah Kelly

He explored every nook and cranny of his new digs and even met a few other foster kittens. The more he discovered, the more excited he was about what was ahead of him. Bo was eager to have a friend to play with.

The kitten figured out kneading and quickly became an expert “baker”.

He still preferred cuddling with his cow when he napped, but was thrilled every time he got to play with another cat his age.

Bo was so pleased to have a spacious kitty suite to run around in. After an intense play session, he curled up next to his snuggle friends and went right to sleep.

Sarah Kelly

Around that time, Sarah received a litter of tabbies found on a resident’s property on a very cold day. They moved into the incubator that Bo was once in.

Bo who now had a kitty suite of his own, was very intrigued by all the new meows and sounds.

By the time the new cats were ready to move out into a playpen, Bo took to them right away and started playing, as if they had already been friends.

“Bo has really become quite close to these guys. His best friend of the bunch is Mac – those two love to tackle each other and usually fall asleep wrestling over the same toy,” Sarah said.

Sarah Kelly

Bo now has foster siblings to play, roughhouse and nap with each day. He is the happiest he’s ever been, and his cow buddy is always nearby watching.

The little “cow” kitty is determined to never be alone again. He has turned into a very vocal, brave little guy and isn’t shy of telling his foster family what he wants.

Sarah Kelly

“We are so grateful to be able to give this boy a second chance, a warm incubator, and a happy ending.”

Miraculous Recovery: Drenched and Freezing Kittens Brought Back to Life by Unwavering Family

Two bonded kittens had their lives turned around with the help of a family that never gave up on them.

Megyn at Kitten Konnoisseur

Last month, a litter of 10-day-old kittens were found in poor conditions and brought to the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter in Texas. They were all drenched and so cold to the point that their temperatures didn’t register on the thermometer.

Shelter staff went right to work, warming up the kittens and trying to stabilize their temperatures. Megyn, a foster volunteer, was contacted and immediately stepped up to help.

“When I arrived, I started assessing their condition. All had wounds, one had rear paralysis, and another was having trouble breathing,” Megyn shared with Love Meow.

Despite their very best effort to save them all, two kittens lost their fight. “(The remaining babies) Lenny and Carl were still fighting despite their wounds and being emaciated,” Megyn added.

“Within an hour I went from hopeful to heartbroken, but I kept fighting. We’re going to give them everything we’ve got to give them the best shot at a healthy, happy life.”

The kittens didn’t have enough strength to eat, so Megyn tube-fed them around the clock. After two days of painstaking care, the feline brothers started perking up and latching.

They immediately clung to their humans once they gained strength, and soaked up all the love they could get.

“Knowing that they were born during the unprecedented Texas winter storm, and that they arrived in such a terrible state, my optimism for their outcome was guarded. Thankfully, they are fighters and quickly overcame their rough start to life.”

In no time, Carl the gray and white kitten became an expert bottle baby and quickly overtook his brother in weight. “I didn’t think this guy would make it through the first night, so to see him thriving now is a huge sigh of relief.”

After four weeks in foster care, the two brothers reached the one-pound mark and began transitioning to eating big kitty food.

“Carl was the one who pushed me to fight so hard as he immediately purred the minute he was touched. He’s always had a calm, sweet way about him,” Megyn added.

“Lenny has always been the goofball and is as cuddly as can be. He has a habit of quickly falling asleep mid-play when he’s playing on his back.”

The two brothers share a very special bond and have been each other’s bolster through the hardest times. The kittens are turning seven weeks old and have surpassed every milestone with flying colors.

“They are true best friends who are constantly found cuddling one another. Lenny especially likes to have his armed wrapped around his brother during naps,” Megyn shared with Love Meow.

Lenny and Carl adore other furry residents in the house and have befriended a fellow rescued cat named Oliver.

Oliver came to the rescue with injuries and subsequent disabilities. The brave cat has made incredible strides and is a gentle soul despite what he has gone through.

“The kittens immediately loved him. Oliver was hesitant but curious at first, but quickly came around.”

Megyn at Kitten Konnoisseur

The brother duo insisted on hanging out with Oliver and keeping him company. It didn’t take long for two of them to win him over.

“(Now), Oliver wants to be near the kittens all the time to supervise play or snuggle. And in return, they absolutely adore him and seek him out. I’m grateful he’s found company in these two goofy boys.”

Lenny and Carl still have a lot of growing to do before they are ready to find their forever home. They have come so far since the day they were found in the cold, and are blossoming into healthy, playful young cats.

Lenny continues to shower his brother with cuddles every day.
