A tiny kitten was discovered on a chilly windowsill, completely frozen to a blanket. Showing no signs of movement, she was rescued by a compassionate man named David who rushed her to the shelter. Thanks to the staff’s dedicated care, she was brought back from the brink of death. Now, introducing the resilient survivor – Elsa!
The Humane Society of Utah received little Elsa the kitten on a cold Monday evening in January. She was found frozen to a blanket on a window sill in West Jordan, Utah. Deann Shepherd of the Humane Society of Utah shared with Love Meow that Elsa was brought in icy cold and barely clinging to life.
Their vet immediately sprang into action, working to raise Elsa’s body temperature and rehydrate her with warm fluids. She was placed on a heating blanket to slowly regain warmth and vitality. Over time, the staff at the facility nursed Elsa back to health.
Elsa, estimated to be around 8-10 weeks old, was quite skinny and showed signs of frostbite on her ears. After being cared for overnight, Elsa woke up the next morning and began to meow, showing signs of recovery.
With uncertain hearts, we weren’t sure if she would pull through the night, but thankfully, she did. Despite being a little on the skinny side and dealing with frostbitten ears, Elsa remains in good cheer.
Dubbed Elsa by our foster team, she’s got a knack for serenading visitors to her kennel, belting out tunes to win over their hearts.
The adorable little kitten has moved out of the shelter and into her temporary foster home. The kind family looking after her will provide all the love and care she needs until she is healthy enough to be spayed and find her forever home.
“She’s been enjoying her wet food and seems to be adjusting wonderfully.”
According to a report by The Humane Society of Utah, Elsa is showing signs of improvement and resilience with each passing day. Foster mom Stephanie Beller diligently provides her with the necessary medication and supplements on a daily basis. Elsa, in return, reciprocates with affectionate purring and enjoys kneading biscuits with her content paws.
Beller shared, “I’ve placed her in the same room as my hedgehogs as she still feels quite chilly, and this room happens to be the coziest in the house.”
According to the Humane Society of Utah, Beller shared that Elsa is quite affectionate, enjoying headbutting hands and kneading with her tiny feet. Despite enduring the harsh winter weather, Elsa is now recovering well and eagerly looking forward to finding her forever home.
