Marley The Ginger Kitty Might Be A Senior, But He Shines Like A Sprightly Kitten

When it comes to cats, there are some who channel their kitten side well into their golden years. Cats are playful by nature, and when they have humans who care for them, they can live well into their teens—and even twenties! For Marley, a super adorable ginger tabby with pretty white tuxedo markings, he’s quite a ham who always keeps his humans on their toes. I came across his images and was instantly smitten, and something tells me that if you love kooky cats, you’re going to like him just as much as I do. His lovely cat mom, Sara, gave me permission to share his story and precious photos with all of the Cattitude Daily readers, so keep reading to learn about this spunky senior cat who proves age is just a number!

How did Marley come into your life?

He is a shelter kitty from Chico, Ca. He was 1 yr old when I adopted him. He came home in a build a bear box and I had never had a cat before.

How did Marley get his name?

Marley was his original name from the shelter. And if you look at him; it just fits! I wanted a piece of him to always be there even though he’s my new best friend.

What is personality like?

He’s playful, talkative, and likes to act more like a dog. He loves kids; he’s very sweet, kind, loving, needy and all around loving. He likes to steal my socks, and hide my clothes. He even takes baths with me.

It appears that Marley is always posing for the camera—has he always been this way?

He has always been this way. He loves and trusts me so much it doesn’t matter what camera is there. I actually think he likes the attention haha.

Does he have any other cat or dog housemates at home?

He does not at this time. But he loves all animals and tries to lick them to death and share his food with them.

What are his favorite hobbies?

He loves to be with me and his dad (my husband). If we are in the shower, he’s on the mat sleeping. If I’m going to the fridge, he’s opening his mouth ready for cream cheese or peanut butter. He’s 10 but he acts like he’s 2. We bring him into Petco in his cage and show him all the animals and fish as a family outing. Shadow hunting is his favorite as well.

What’s something special you’d like people to know about Marley?

Marley has been there with me as an emotional support cat and friend. He always knows when I’m sad and always knows when to comfort me. You can hold him however you want and rub his belly no matter when or where. He’s incredibly trusting towards me and my husband and anyone we take him around. He even laid with my 3 month old niece and held her hand. He’s a person. Not a cat. If we leave him for too long, he gets sick. That’s how much he loves and lives for us. I’d like to give a special “thank you” to Sara for allowing me to share Marley’s story and images with all of the Cattitude Daily readers. It’s people like her giving shelter cats a second chance that makes the world a better place for our feline friends. And something tells me that Marley is the way he is because he has all the love he could ever want.
