A kitten hid in a garage under cars after the flood, but when someone showed her kindness, her world changed.

A scrawny little kitten was found all alone in an apartment parking garage after the flood in Austin.
Kind-hearted residents discovered her hiding under the cars and refused to leave her behind. “Concerned for her safety, residents worked together to catch her,” Megyn, president of Critical Kitten Care Fund, shared with Love Meow.
When local animal shelters were over capacity, Megyn and her team at Critical Kitten Care Fund stepped up to help.

The kitten, named Sylvie, was severely emaciated and very timid, but she didn’t have a mean bone in her body. “Due to her lack of socialization, she was terrified of humans and would do anything to hide from them.”
But nothing that some good food and a bit of TLC couldn’t fix.

Sylvie was treated for her stomach troubles and given plenty of nourishing food, along with a cozy place to rest and heal. “With the help of medications and some TLC, she quickly bounced back.”
At first, she would hide and freeze in place, startled by every little noise and movement.
Slowly but surely, she learned to trustMegyn
As she nibbled her food, Megyn spoke in a soothing voice while gently petting her. Little by little, she warmed up to human companionship.
Soon, the fear in her eyes melted away, giving way to a hopeful yearning for affection. “With the aid of yummy treats for positive reinforcement, she is learning that humans and indoor living aren’t such bad things.”
With plenty of treats and patience, she blossomed into a happy, sweet kittenMegyn
Though still a bit skittish at times, Sylvie has blossomed into a happy, sweet young cat who treasures every moment with her humans. “She was amazing for the vet and a very handleable kitten despite her independence.”
“While she may always be a shy kitty, she is extremely gentle and loves chin scratches. She has a huge motor and will do anything for a treat.”

“She’s learning that movement and sounds aren’t going to harm her and has relaxed enough to explore the house, find cozy napping spots, play with toys, and make friends with our resident dog and cat.”
With a feline companion by her side, she’s truly come alive, bouncing around and playing to her heart’s content. “Being able to relax and play out in the open is a huge accomplishment.”

She’s become a champ at mealtime, polishing off every morsel. Now that she no longer has to worry about where her next meal will come from, she is filling out beautifully and settling into the good life of a properly pampered house cat.
“She’ll make the perfect, low-maintenance companion for someone who doesn’t want a cling-monster kitty.”
Sylvie is growing more confident each dayMegyn
Sylvie has traded the struggles of the streets for the comfort of indoor living and is ready to head off to her forever home.
“She started life not knowing that humans and indoor life are safe.” With each passing day, she’s growing more confident and truly coming into her own.
