Jewel’s story began in heartbreak. Found in a Brooklyn shelter, she was the picture of neglect—frail, weak, and unable to stand, eat, or drink.

Blood tests showed dangerously high calcium and sodium levels, pushing her fragile body to the brink. Things took a devastating turn when Jewel became comatose, leaving her rescuers heartbroken but determined not to give up.
Though the vet suggested letting her go, her rescuers held on to hope. Jewel, just six months old, had yet to experience the love and care she deserved.
