In Shelbyville, Kentucky, there is a very special distillery gaining recognition. Not only is Jeptha Creed distillery women owned, they use ingredients that they grow themselves naturally. How cool! But a working farm or brewery usually benefits from some four legged assistance. And that comes in the form of the working cats that help control rodent and predator populations. But this business has unique cats doing that as well. An entire family of them actually!

FOUR female ginger cats supervise the distillery.

Those in the cat world may gasp at that while others aren’t sure why. Well, it’s because female ginger cats are rare. And while full orange female cats are even more rare, to have four female gingers of any kind in one place is uniquely special. Here, the ginger gals all lived on the land before the business started. But as soon as building was complete, the cats were all welcomed at their new home.

The siblings were only a few weeks old when they were discovered on the property with no mother. And since they were so young, they needed to be bottle fed.

But all four thrived and grew into their adorable fluffy ginger bodies. Days were spent playing in the warehouse, bells jingling from their tiny collars to locate their shenanigans.

Now the ladies happily stroll around the distillery, performing their duties while jumping from barrel to barrel. Each night when the staff go home, the ladies are let loose to run free, explore and watch over the business. During the day, they have their very own indoor “catio” to keep them safe as they rest up for their night duties.

Meet the gals that they introduced on their social media page.

The ginger gals were all given names of the grains that they use to make their spirits.

Malt: Ms. Non-Chalant

Barley: Ms. Independent

Wheat: Ms. Congeniality

Rye: Ms. Queen Bee

Thank you so much to the distillery for keeping this family together and sharing them with the world. Be sure to follow Jeptha Creed to see these adorable sisters. They have tours of the location as well as availability for events. Say hello to the ladies from us!
