This Christmas, a woman’s wish was granted by two inseparable kittens who brought joy into her life after the loss of her beloved 20-year-old cat.
Bonded feline siblings named Kringle and PeppyJennifer can be found on @newkittensontheblock. Peppy, also known as Peppermint Patty, and Kringle were two of six kittens who arrived at IndyHumane seeking a brighter future when they were just four weeks old. The pair shared a deep connection unlike any other.
According to their foster mom, Jennifer, Peppy is a truly one-of-a-kind kitten with her striking appearance. Her unique coloring, grey-blue eyes, pink nose, and black lips give her a distinctive and adorable look, making her stand out from the rest. On the other hand, Kringle is a cheerful and energetic kitten who loves to play, but he’s also the first one to settle down when it’s time to rest. He gets along well with all of his feline companions, spreading joy wherever he goes.

As the siblings were enjoying themselves in their foster home, Dr. Taylor Smith, a vet at IndyHumane, was searching for a furry companion for her cousin.
“After losing her 20-year-old cat in October, my cousin was feeling the void of not having a cat around,” Dr. Smith revealed to Love Meow.
Kringle and Peppy were enjoying their time with their foster friend Butterball, who was also known as Butterball Jennifer on the new kittens on the block page. Dr. Smith had been sending pictures of the adorable kitties to her cousin with the hope that she would adore them. When her cousin laid eyes on Peppy and heard about his inseparable brother Kringle, she instantly fell in love. She was adamant that the two brothers belonged together and needed a loving home.
Coincidentally, around the same time, Dr. Smith received a message from her cousin’s husband who had a similar idea in mind. He too had his heart set on the two kittens and devised a special plan for his wife as a surprise around the festive Christmas season.
Jennifer, also known as @newkittensontheblock, had a cunning plan in mind. Every time her husband’s cousin brought up the topic of adopting a pair of kittens, he would playfully decline and change the subject. Meanwhile, Jennifer’s cousin was persistent in her messages, urging Jennifer to convince her husband. Dr. Smith, Jennifer’s cousin, revealed to Love Meow that she was coordinating the adoption and gathering supplies behind the scenes while the playful charade went on.
My close friend Jennifer, who goes by the handle @newkittensontheblock, was eagerly sharing her excitement about some kittens with her husband. Little did she know, her husband was secretly planning to surprise her with the adorable pair. He told her they would discuss it on Christmas Eve, but he was already making arrangements behind the scenes. When Peppy and Kringle returned from their surgery, the husband, with the help of Dr. Smith, brought the kittens into their home just in time for the special holiday.
When Dr. Taylor Smith placed the kittens on the couch, she eagerly awaited her cousin’s return. Upon her cousin’s entrance, she was left speechless, unable to comprehend what she saw.
Initially assuming the kittens were simply visiting, she pondered how her husband would react to their presence. It was then that they unveiled the much-anticipated surprise.
Tears welled up in her eyes as she learned that her husband had surprised her by adopting the kittens she had grown so attached to. Dr. Taylor Smith recounted the emotional moment, saying, “She was so happy when I revealed the surprise. It was a bit challenging to keep it a secret, but seeing her reaction made it all worth it.”
As she cradled the kittens in her arms, her heart overflowed with happiness and love, as if a piece of her soul had finally been restored.
