A cat left in a closed dry cleaner alone for months made an incredible comeback.

About two months ago, the rescue team at Greenpoint Cats received a message about a cat trapped inside a shuttered dry cleaner.
The cat, later named OMG (short for “Oh Em Gee”), had been living in squalid conditions surrounded by garbage. “The owners shut down and left him behind. He spent months trapped inside the abandoned store,” Greenpoint Cats shared.
Alone and filthy, he survived as best he could, sustained only by food passed through a small hole in the door by kind strangers.

Volunteers with Greenpoint Cats jumped into action, reaching out to authorities and the landlord. “No one would help this cat. So, together with a team of dedicated rescuers, we got him out.”
After months of isolation and squalor, OMG was finally safe.

His time in the abandoned store had taken its toll. He was underweight and covered in ringworm, a treatable skin condition, but he was otherwise alert and full of spirit. A foster volunteer welcomed him with open arms, creating a quiet, cozy space for him to rest and heal.
Grateful for a clean room and an abundance of food, he quickly embraced the comforts of his new life.

In just a few weeks, his transformation was nothing short of incredible. “He’s safe, well-fed, and settling into the good life in a foster home. His life looks very different now.”
He has filled out beautifully, and his once-dull coat is now soft and glossy. No longer anxious about where his next meal is coming from, he loves to lounge around, waving his paws in the air without a care.

He adores the company of his people, often hopping onto the couch to stretch out and show his belly—an open invitation for rubs.
With a warm, loving environment, OMG has blossomed into a joyful, affectionate young cat. “He’s as loving as he is playful, as cute as he is friendly. It’s as if he’s living each day to make up for the hard ones that are behind him.”

He’s endlessly curious, following his people everywhere and always ready to play or curl up for a cuddle. His eyes, once wary, now sparkle with life. He walks with his adorable tippy-tap paws, constantly making biscuits.

OMG has also proven to be a skilled hunter, chasing and pouncing on wand toys with impressive precision.
He carriers his “prey” around the house, his eyes gleaming with pride. When he’s not zooming from room to room, he enjoys quiet moments perched by the window, watching the world and little critters go by.

Thanks to the compassion of those who refused to look away, OMG’s life has been completely transformed. Not long ago, he was forgotten, trapped behind a locked door.
